Seville Cathedral

I'll be honest: I had tired of visiting churches, convents, etc. Then we took a tour of the Cathedral of St. Mary of the See in Seville.

It's a monster, the world's biggest Gothic cathedral and third-biggest cathedral by volume of any kind. And it's elaborately beautiful, both inside and out.

I don't like to dump a bunch of photos on my readers. This time, after the jump, I'm going to do it anyway.

Another shot of the outside:

The main altarpiece:

How many stories tall is that sucker? Four? Five?

The ceiling from nave to apse:

Two more shots looking up:

Altarpieces of a couple of chapels:

Bronze sculpture of warriors representing four Spanish kingdoms holding up a sarcophagus containing 20% of the bones of Christopher Columbus:

The city doesn't seem ashamed of Columbus...

As if visiting the Seville Cathedral wasn't a sufficient feast of eye candy, next our tour guide took us to the nearby Alcazar.
