Guggenheim Bilbao: Joan Miró

This temporary exhibit focuses on the years 1920-45, when the influence of Surrealism was more obvious in Miró's work than it became later on.

If you lined up all the 20th-century artists with the biggest critical reputations, I bet Miró would stand out as the most accessible. His work is so playful, who doesn't love it?

I wonder whether Miró was a direct influence on the mid-century modern design style known as "Googie" or "space age" or "atomic age," especially in its "starburst" or "sunburst" incarnation.
