Church Inside Mosque Atop Ruins of Church

Maybe a bit like turducken?

The Mosque/Cathedral of Córdoba is yet another architectural wonder of Spain. And yet another example of Christians not destroying (though adapting) but admiring something that Muslims built.

The outstanding feature of the joint is the arches -- 760 of them, according to the city's website. They just go on and on within a footprint of 23,400 square meters. 


Karen says that's more than twice the size of the average Target store!

The church consists of the usual chapels along the sides plus a sanctuary in the middle. See how the two styles of architecture are brought together?
