I promised no photos of people smiling at the camera, but...just this once.
Karen and I have been joined by our friends Michele and Tom, whose home base is in the south of France. Before this vacation began, I asked their permission to tell lies about them in my travel diary. (That's the ethical way to handle telling lies about people -- ask their permission first.)
They said OK. So away I go.
Not everything I say about Michele and Tom will be false, but some of it will be not exactly true. Or not even close to true. You'll have to guess.
In the photo above we see Michele and Tom stunned and delighted to receive the gift we brought them from the States. Sweet'N Low is impossible to find in France; likewise Frontera brand seasoning packets for guacamole.
When I returned home from shopping for this gift, Karen protested that I had bought too much, that packing it would take up too much room.
I replied, "But these are our friends! Nothing is too good for them!" "Nothing!" I added for emphasis.
To say they were bowled over would be to do a disservice to bowling pins.
